Turkey has failed to make use of the six years in which there were no clashes in the southeast, Baydemir said.
The only way to resolve the unrest in the south east of Turkey was to bring social peace to the region, the mayor of one of the most populous cities in the region said Tuesday.
Osman Baydemir, the mayor of Diyarbakir, said that conflict was no solution to the problems in the region. “There is no benefit to Turkey in fighting, in denial or in revolting,” he said in comments carried by the Cihan News Agency while in Peking to attend a conference on local administration.
