Earthquake shakes Bingol province

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the richter scale struck the town of Karliova in the province of Bingol, shaking the mountainous region that is mostly populated by Kurdish communities at 10.41 a.m. Monday morning. The quake sent panic through the town, which had already been hit recently with a series of tremors measuring up to 5.9 on the richter scale in March this year. The tremors were reported by the Kandilli observatory in Istanbul.
