Author of 'Metal Storm' hits bookstands with clash of civilizations novel

As Turkey and the United States probe each other on cross-border operations into Iraq, 'Metal Storm' remains an ominous possibility to some

Burak Turna hit the bookstands this month -- just as terrorist bombs hit London -- with his second political fiction, “Third World War,” about a clash of civilizations. He has developed a large following in Turkey with his “political fiction meets current politics and diplomacy” books, in other words, conspiracy theories.

His first book “Metal Storm,” co-authored by Orkun Uçar, describing a Turkish-U.S. war sparked after an assault on Turkish troops in northern Iraq by U.S. forces, crossed the minds of many Turks last week after Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement on the possibility of cross-border military operations in Iraq.
