New Repentance Law on Agenda in Turkey

Turkey has seen the enactment of seven repentance laws for militants of terrorist organization since 1985. A similar law is now on the agenda again.

Recent debates focus on whether broader reforms are needed as the 2003 law did not produce the desired results in terms of convincing the terrorist organization Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) militants to lay down their arms.
