Turkey, Greek Leaders Push Peace; Citizens Say Tensions Remain

Kostas Karamanlis may become the first Greek premier to visit Turkey's capital in 46 years next month, as the two nations try to end centuries of hostilities and promote Turkey's bid to join the European Union.

Karamanlis, 48, may vacation in the town of Rize on the Black Sea, the home of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and visit the capital, Ankara, Erdogan's spokesman Akif Beki said July 12. Neither government would give a date for the visit, which was reported on the front page of most Turkish newspapers.
