Crime increases by 35 percent in first 6 months, warns ATO

A report on national crime levels released on Friday said crime had increased by 35 percent in the first half of the year.

The Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) report said the number of crimes reported in the first six months of 2005 was equal to the amount reported for all of 2000, with crimes perpetrated on individuals increasing by 26.1 percent compared to the same period last year, while property crimes had jumped by 43 percent.
