ANKARA - A Turkish cargo vessel was on fire in international waters in the Black Sea off the northeastern Turkish province of Trabzon, the emergency management centre said Thursday, adding that the crew was abandoning ship.
A fire broke out on the Ufuk 1 as it was sailing from Trabzon to the Russian port of Sochi, the centre said in a statement. The reason for the blaze was not immediately known.
The 53-strong crew had begun leaving the ship on lifeboats or with life buoys, it said.
