Village widowers complain: No more pensions for widows, let them come to us

AKP Party MP Mevlut Akgun has come up against an interesting sort of demand from elderly widowers in villages across Anatolia. In his tour to rural areas in the Karaman region of Turkey, Akgun was confronted on many occasions by elderly widowers who told him "Get rid of the pension for widows, in fact tax them; they are not approaching us for marriage. Save us from a dusty, solitary fate."
