Diyarbakir mayor denies allegations that he called on PKK and TSK to jointly abandon their arms
Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir yesterday denied allegations he had said in Austria that the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) should declare simultaneous cease fires.
At a press conference at Ataturk Airport held soon after his return from his European Parliament-organized meetings in Brussels and Strasbourg , Baydemir spoke in no uncertain terms about the allegations: "There's no sense in proposing that the TSK put down their arms. How on earth could our nation's army declare a cease-fire? It would be outlandish to make such suggestion and I certainly never did."
