Nationwide measures taken across Turkey after bird flu outbreak

Live quails found on a roadside in Kütahya were culled yesterday, the Anatolia news agency reported.

Speaking to Anatolia, Kütahya Agriculture Director Bekir Gencer said that approximately 400 quails abandoned near a roadside by unidentified persons had been destroyed, a measure taken to avoid any further avian influenza cases.

Gencer assured that every precaution had been taken around the city against any possible bird flu outbreak, adding that the region where the quails were found had been fumigated.
