The fifth annual meeting of Doğan Publishing Holding (DYH) was held at the Doğan TV center on Friday.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, DYH Executive Committee Chairman Mehmet Ali Yalçındağ said: “The meetings we hold every year have become platforms where the leading members of the sector meet to discuss the future. This year's theme is 'Talking About the Trends'.”
Associated Press Vice President Thomas R. Brettingen said media organs used to have the power to influence people's perceptions and set the agenda but that now the public dictates what the news should be.
“The traditional media feels under threat. The Internet has transformed the public into correspondents. We still don't know if this is good or bad for journalism, but we should accept the fact that journalism has become everyone's field of interest.”
