The level of exports, which is shown as the locomotive of the Turkish economy, broke all records in the history of the republic reaching $73.4 billion; the demand for Turkish products around the world continues to grow.
Turkey, which takes its place in world trading arena with 20,000 different products from 40,304 companies, meets some interesting demands apart from the classic export areas like industry, textiles and ready-to-wear, iron-steel and agricultural products. According to statistics from the Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade (IGEME) and various export companies developed countries, as well as developing countries, demand technology based products from Turkey such as automobiles, refrigerators, television and audio systems, washing machines and sewing machines. According to the reports of the Turkish Statistics Association, (TUIK), the US and Germany, which are two of the biggest markets in the world, are at the very top of the countries importing goods from Turkey; they are joined by other sizable markets like Italy, France, England, Spain, Israel and Arab countries. Some of the smaller countries exporting from Turkey include Belize, Virgin Islands, Ceuta and Mellilla, Lesotho, Mayetta, Tuvalu, Sao Tome and Principe, Pitcairn, Cape Verde and the Cayman Islands.
