'Is This the Way the Turkish Army is Paying for 3 Coups?'

In a telephone conversation with a Turkish official over the parliamentary refusal of the March 1 deployment motion prior to the war in Iraq, an official from the US Defense Department (Pentagon) was referring to the Turkish Armed Forces as he said: "Tell them, they owed us a favor for three coups. Is this the way they are doing us a favor?"

Turan Yavuz, a journalist-writer, includes in his book titled, "Cuvallayan Ittifak," (Screwed Alliance) a telephone conversation between an American official from the Pentagon and his Turkish counterpart.
