Bribery scandal strikes Turkey

A prosecutor opened a match-fixing investigation into the Turkish league after a newspaper claimed one club had a game rigged to avoid relegation.

Turkish soccer long has been tainted by corruption allegations and calls have increased for action after a sports trial in Italy demoted Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina for undue influence of referees.
