Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy from Hatay Fuat Çay said over the weekend Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had knelt before U.S. President George W. Bush in order to become the country's prime minister, claiming that in the 2002 general elections Turks who wanted to sell out the country had presented the Justice and Development Party to the people. Speaking at the CHP Hatay branch congress, Çay said the AKP was a union of those who wanted Turkey to serve their interests, those who wanted to steal from the poor, capitalists, liberals and religious extremists.
