The hottest summer in 25 years produces the most destructive blaze this season -- so far
A forest fire in the Bayindir district of Izmir that began about 1:30 p.m. Sunday destroyed 200 hectares of forestland and several groves and orchards.
The fire has been put under control but fire-fighting teams will remain on alert for another day to guard against further danger, officials said.
