A group of Turkish scholars seeking an alternative approach to what they call the official thesis against the so-called Armenian genocide claims have rescheduled their postponed Istanbul conference for Sept. 22-24.
"We're from different backgrounds as well as having different views on the 'genocide' claims," Professor Ayhan Aktar of Marmara University, one of the conference organizers, told TNA in a telephone interview. "I personally don't believe that there was an Armenian 'genocide.' As citizens of Turkey, however, we should look into the issue."
