ANKARA : Turkey on Friday lifted quarantine imposed on a northwestern village where a lethal strain of bird flu was identified earlier this month and said no further outbreaks of the disease had been detected.
The three-week quarantine was put in place on October 7 on and around the village of Kiziksa after the discovery of the deadly H5N1 virus in a fowl farm there, and was set to officially expire at 11:00 p.m. (2000 GMT), local officials said.
