Turkey: New Turkish Lira Will Enter the Market Jan. '06

With the inclusion of the new Turkish liras in circulation, Turkish lira banknotes will belong to the past as of January, 1, 2006, Zaman Daily reports. A related announcement from the Turkish Central Bank was published in the Official Gazette.

This means that banknotes of Turkish liras will be out of circulation as of 31 December 2005 and the 10-year time-limit period for the old currency will expire on 31 December 2015.
