Ağca unfit for military, but could be fit for prison

A Turkish military hospital on Monday declared that Mehmet Ali Ağca, who shot Pope John Paul II in 1981, was not fit for obligatory military service, his lawyer said.

The decision by the hospital came just before Justice Minister Cemil Çiçek said he would be filing a written order to the Supreme Court of Appeals to review Ağca's release.
