Report: European Parliament comes to terms with Turkey’s conditions on Cyprus protocol

The European Parliament is ready to encourage the European Union Council to release a financial aid package designed to improve the economy of the northern part of Cyprus, in exchange for Turkey's implementation of a key protocol extending Turkey's customs union with the EU, including newcomers such as Greek Cyprus, according to a Greek Cypriot media report.

In a report titled “European Parliament bows to Ankara's conditions,” Greek Cypriot daily Phileleftheros claimed that it had obtained a copy of a document in which the Turkish government's stance of refusing to open Turkey's ports and airports to traffic from EU-member Greek Cyprus was noted, NTV television channel said. The daily, however, did not elaborate on what kind of a document it had.
