EU ambassador says Turkey can become a member in 2014

Turkey can become an EU member in 2014 if the accession talks are finalized until 2012 and necessary measures are taken, European Commission's Turkey Representative Ambassador Hans Joerg Kretschmer said on Monday.

Delivering a speech at a conference named, "Turkey Country Economic Memorandum (CEM): Sustained Growth and Convergence with the EU" jointly organized by World Bank and Turkish Treasury Undersecretariat in Ankara, Kretschmer praised Turkey's performance during past five months on the screening process.
